Indonesia’s Chiara Marvella Handoyo and Alwi Farhan Reach Final of 2023 Badminton World Junior Championships

Indonesia had two representatives in the final Badminton World Junior Championships 2023 which will take place in Spokane, United States, on Monday (9/10) early morning WIB.

The two Indonesian representatives confirmed to play in the final are Chiara Marvella Handoyo in the women’s singles number and Alwi Farhan in the men’s singles number.

Chiara continued her surprise at the 2023 BWF World Junior Championships by defeating Huang Lin Ran from China. In the semifinals, Sunday (8/10) early morning WIB, Chiara won 21-17 and 21-19 over Huang.

Chiara’s performance at the 2023 World Junior Championships received positive attention. The player who was born on June 14 2005 successfully defeated the first seed from Japan, Tomoka Miyazaki, in a rubber match in the quarter-finals.

In the final round, Chiara will face Pitchamon Opatniputh from Thailand.

Meanwhile, Alwi Farhan successfully defeated India’s representative, Ayush Shetty, in the semifinals. Alwi, who is the fourth seed at the 2023 World Badminton Junior Championships, won 21-18, 21-15 over Ayush.

In the final round, Alwi will face third seed from China Hu Zhe An, who successfully beat first seed Alex Lanier (France) 22-20, 22-20.

The only Indonesian representative who lost in the semifinals of the BWF World Junior Championships was Jonathan Farrell Gosal/Priskala Venus Elasadai in the mixed doubles number. The 12th seed was defeated by Liao Pin Yi/Zhang Jia Han because they were the third seeds from China.
