“Indonesia’s Badminton Team Faces Thailand in Sudirman Cup 2023: Must-Win Match to Secure Group Lead”

The RI badminton team will continue the match Sudirman Cup 2023 facing Thailand. Fajar Alfian et al, must win in order to fulfill the ambition of winning the group.

It was the manager of the Indonesian Team, Armand Damardji, who conveyed this, in response to Indonesia’s meeting with Thailand in the Group B phase, on Thursday (18/5/2023) morning local time.

“Facing Thailand, of course we will field our best strength. I ask all the players to go all out and consider this match a final,” said Armand, in a written statement.

The Indonesian badminton team itself is currently recorded as having won two wins over Canada 5-0 and Germany 4-1. Indonesia leads the temporary standings of Group B. Thailand also has the right to advance to the quarterfinals after packing two wins, namely 4-1 wins over Germany and Canada. It’s just a matter of deciding who wins the group.

“It takes a hard struggle, never give up, and great enthusiasm to face Thailand. The players certainly know their respective duties to perform optimally and contribute points,” said Armand.

“I see very positive energy. Hopefully this condition will continue to be maintained to prepare against Thailand in the final match of the group phase,” he continued.

Preparing for tomorrow’s match, the Red-White team is currently continuing to focus and seriously train in the practice hall of the Suzhou Olympic Sports Center, Suzhou, Wednesday (17/5). For example, Fajar and Rian Ardianto, they practiced in a one-on-three format. Taking turns, Fajar and Rian were attacked by Leo Rolly Carnando, Daniel Marthin, and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon or Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

“Today we train again. Hopefully the training goes well and no one is injured. This training is in preparation for tomorrow’s important match against Thailand,” said Fajar.

“If we play against Thailand, of course we are ready. Our preparation while here is also good. I can’t wait to compete,” Rian added.

Meanwhile, the mixed doubles player, Dejan Ferdinansyah, also said that he was ready to take responsibility if he was shown with Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja. “I have practiced optimally. If shown, of course I also want to play optimally,” said Dejan.
