Late last month, an Indonesian woman escaped certain death, after she resisted an attacking crocodile for more than 90 minutes.
While Valmira de Jesus was fetching water from a stream near the farm where she works in Indonesia’s West Kalimantan province, she was attacked by a crocodile that was hiding there.
According to the Indonesian news site Tribunbanten, the giant crocodile pulled Valmira after he grabbed her leg.
Video clip showed Valmira struggling to escape from the crocodile, while her co-workers tried to keep the giant crawling animal away from her with sticks.
According to eyewitnesses, Valmira resisted the crocodile, and helped her escape from the shallow water level.
After being taken to hospital, Valmira said: “I was in pain from where the crocodile was holding me. I couldn’t get free of it easily. It was pulling on me so hard, I thought I was going to die.”
The survivor added, “I am lying in the hospital and I can still see the crocodile, and feel it on my body. I am very grateful to the people who helped me escape from it. They saved my life.”
According to doctors, Valmira suffers from deep wounds in her right arm, thigh and lower leg, but she will recover from them after a period of time.
