President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) states Indonesia’s attitude towards conflict escalation Israel and Palestine which is currently in turmoil. Jokowi urged that the Israeli and Palestinian Hamas war be stopped immediately.
Jokowi expressed this in a press statement via video uploaded to the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account, Tuesday (10/10/2023). Jokowi assessed that the escalation of the conflict between the two countries could have a major humanitarian impact.
“Indonesia urges war and acts of violence to be stopped immediately to avoid increasing human casualties and destruction of property, because an escalation of conflict could have a greater humanitarian impact,” said Jokowi.

Apart from that, Jokowi asked Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and related ministry officials to immediately take a stand. This is for the safety of Indonesian citizens who are in the conflict area.
“I ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs and related ministries to immediately take quick action to protect Indonesian citizens who are in conflict areas,” he said.

I ask the foreign minister and related ministries to immediately take swift action to protect Indonesian citizens who are in conflict areas.
The root of the conflict, namely the occupation of the Palestinian territories by Israel, must be resolved immediately in accordance with the parameters agreed upon by the United Nations (UN).
