President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has urged the Indonesian people to prioritize full vaccination against Covid-19 as the number of cases has been increasing in the country. In addition, he requested individuals who are infected with influenza or have a fever to wear masks, and for people with comorbidities and those in contact with older people to also use masks. The third notion conveyed by the President was to actively wash hands. The government’s spokesperson for the mitigation of Covid-19, Reisa Broto Asmoro, reminded the public that the pandemic status is not over and it is important for people to receive complete vaccination, including booster shots. Reisa also encouraged people to be vaccinated before meeting their families, especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, or people with immune deficiencies, to create a sense of safety and convenience during their trip to their hometowns and during their return trips.
Indonesian President Jokowi calls for full vaccination, mask wearing, and frequent handwashing to combat rising COVID-19 cases.
