Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
The dynamics of Indonesian politics in the past week have been marked by a number of momentum ahead 2024 election. Starting from a meeting of political party elites exploring coalitions to the cawapres exchange.
The Constitutional Court (MK) is also being discussed because it is currently testing the voting system in elections.
President Joko Widodo has also been under scrutiny for admitting to interfering or interfering in the 2024 election for the sake of the state.
1. Reward consolidation of volunteers
The presidential candidate supported by PDIP, Ganjar Pranowo, has started consolidating with his volunteers in the past week.
Last Thursday (1/6), Ganjar attended the inauguration of the Ganjar Winning Volunteer Aspiration House in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. Ganjar asked his supporting volunteers to “take heart” of Gen Z.
Ganjar also attended the “Jokowi Volunteer Declaration to Support Ganjar” at the Basket Hall Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday (3/5). Ganjar echoes the unity between political parties and Joko Widodo’s volunteer groups to realize his victory in the 2024 presidential election.
“The power of volunteers is tremendous. The two components of the force are electorally working together to achieve one goal of winning the presidential election,” he said.
2. Anies meets SBY
The presidential candidate from the Change Coalition for Unity Anies Baswedan met with the Chairman of the Democratic Upper Council Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in Pacitan, East Java, last Thursday (1/6).
The chairman of the DPP NasDem Party Willy Aditya claimed that Anies met SBY to inform the cawapres candidate who would accompany him.
“Yesterday, Mas Anies went to Pacitan to convey the results of team eight to Pak SBY. Later to the President of PKS and Habib Salim,” said Willy as quoted from detik.com, Sunday (3/6).
Anies does not want to divulge the characteristics of the cawapres he has chosen. He wanted there to be a surprise effect when it was announced later. It will be announced no later than July 16 at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta.
3. Jokowi joined the cawe-cawe
Indonesian political excitement this week also came from President Joko Widodo. He claims that he is allowed to engage in politics for the sake of the nation and the state.
According to him, the cawe-cawe that were carried out did not deviate from the constitution. He also claimed that this step was taken so that development would continue even though there was a leadership transition.
“Cawe-cawe are for the country, for the national interest. I vote for cawe-cawe in a positive sense, can’t you? Can’t you do politics? No constitution has been violated. For this country, I can have cawe-cawe,” Jokowi said when entertaining a number of mass media editors at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Monday (29/5).
4. Judicial review of the electoral system at the Constitutional Court
Former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Denny Indrayana claimed to have received information that the Constitutional Court would change the voting pattern from an open proportional system (caleg vote) to a closed proportional system (party vote).
MK spokesman Fajar Laksono then denied this. He said the judicial review of Article 168 in the Election Law had not yet entered the deliberations of judges, so no decision had yet been discussed.
Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman also denied the issue. “Ah, that’s what I said, what’s leaking if it hasn’t broken yet?” said Anwar after the celebration of Pancasila Day at Monas, Jakarta, Thursday (1/6).
For his words, Denny was reported to the police. Denny is suspected of committing crimes of hate speech, fake news, insulting authorities, and leaking state secrets.
5. Hercules supports Prabowo again
Rosario de Marshal alias Hercules together with the United Indonesia People’s Movement (GRIB) Jaya expressed support for Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
“Unless he raises the white flag, maybe GRIB can take action where. But right now, the price is fixed for (Supporting) him (Prabowo Subianto),” said Hercules quoting Antara, Saturday (3/6).
Hercules has always supported Prabowo Subianto since the 2014 presidential election. Currently, the person known as the Tanah Abang thug has served as an expert at PD Pasar Jaya, which has been a BUMD of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government since the era of Governor Anies Baswedan.
