TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Brig Endar Priantoro reported the alleged maladministration of his removal from the Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK to the Indonesian Ombudsman. Responding to this, the Indonesian Ombudsman said that his party would first review the report.
Member of the Indonesian Ombudsman Robert Na Endi Jaweng said that Endar’s report had been received by his party. However, he declined to comment on the material because the report still had to be verified first.
“Of course I can’t get ahead of the results. Later we will convey them to the KPK as the reported party and Pak Endar as the reporter,” said Jaweng on Monday 17 April 2023.
Jaweng said Endar had submitted several documentary evidences in the report. He added that apart from that, Endar had also explained the circumstances surrounding him.
“Of course, seeing the various stages earlier, the reporting side, the reported side, there was a direct submission of a complaint from Pak Endar as a victim directly to us at the Ombudsman,” he said at his office.
The Ombudsman will first verify Endar’s report
Ombudsman RI, said Jaweng, still had to verify before following up on Endar Priantoro’s report. He said the Ombudsman would examine the various requirements that the report had fulfilled.
“Later we will look at the fulfillment of the requirements report until it reaches our table at the leadership table. Later we will discuss whether we can process this case further. If later the plenary leadership decides this can be continued, it will go to me as a support for the leadership in charge of personnel matters, said Jawing.
On the same occasion, Endar previously served as Director of Investigation KPK hope that the Ombudsman will follow up on his report. Moreover, he said, if maladministration was found related to his removal as director of investigations at the KPK.
“Of course we believe the Indonesian Ombudsman has the competence to be trusted to prove the allegations that we report, of course, on the authority of the Ombudsman,” said Endar.
Endar’s removal violated the rules and was related to the Formula E case
Previously, Endar Priantoro was removed as KPK investigation director on March 31, 2023. It is suspected that the removal contained elements of maladministration and violated the rules. Even so, the KPK emphasized that the report was in accordance with the applicable regulations.
For the dismissal, Endar complained to the chairman of the KPK Firli Bahuri, Secretary General of the KPK Cahya Hardianto Harefa, and Head of the HR Bureau of the KPK Zuraida Retno Pamungkas to various parties. One of them, Endar Priantoro, complained about the three to the KPK Board of Trustees and the Indonesian Ombudsman.
It is suspected that Endar Priantoro’s dismissal was the result of a conflict related to the handling of the case Formula E in the KPK. Endar and a number of directors and deputies considered that this case was not appropriate to be brought up to the investigation stage because there were not enough two pieces of evidence. On the other hand, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri urged that this case immediately go to the investigation stage.
