Ranking FIFA Indonesian National team predicted to shoot up after beating Vietnam in the Group D match 2023 Asian Cup at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Doha, Friday (19/1).
Quoted from Footy Rankings, which consistently calculates changes in FIFA rankings, the Indonesian national team is said to have risen four places to 142nd in the world after beating Vietnam in the Asian Cup.
The significant increase in the FIFA ranking occurred due to the weight of the match which was the final round of the Asian Cup and the status of Vietnam which was ranked far above Indonesia. Vietnam is currently in 94th position in the world, while Indonesia is in 146th position.
Indonesia is claimed to have received additional points of up to 23.18 points, while Vietnam is minus 23.18 points. Vietnam is predicted to fall five places to 99th in the world.
The victory over Vietnam made Indonesia have 1076.78 in the FIFA ranking. Vietnam has 1205.90.
The Indonesian national team won 1-0 over Vietnam in the second match of the 2023 Asian Cup. Asnawi Mangkualam’s penalty goal in the 42nd minute ensured the Garuda team’s victory over Vietnam.
This result gives Indonesia the opportunity to qualify for the round of 16. Next, Shin Tae Yong’s team will face Japan in the final Group D match, Wednesday (24/1).
“Both teams played well. We played with the best performance and the players also played according to expectations. I think we also had a little luck. I also want to thank the fans for their support for the team,” said Shin Tae Yong after the match.
