Indonesian Ministry of Health Urges Early Detection of Cancer to Reduce Mortality

TRIBUNTANGERANG.COM – Indonesian people’s awareness of early detection of cancer is still very lacking.

However, early detection of cancer can reduce the worst risks.

Cancer is one of the main causes of morbidity and death in Indonesia with a high financial burden.

If not treated properly and immediately, cancer can cause serious complications that can threaten life.

Quoted by Kompas.com, it was recorded that 70 percent of cancer sufferers came to the hospital when they entered the final stage.

In fact, arriving at an early stage will have an impact on the recovery rate and prevent fatalities.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono.

“Better early detection will result in reduced mortality, reduced patient mortality, successful treatment and of course lower costs.” said Dante on the official website as reported by Tribunnews, Saturday (16/12/2023).

Therefore, the Ministry of Health is committed to strengthening early detection of four types of cancer.

Namely lung cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer and cervical cancer.

This is also in line with health transformation, especially in the first pillar which focuses on primary care.

The first effort made is through early HPV vaccination to prevent cervical cancer.

“Now it has become a national program for mandatory vaccination for children, women, children aged 11-12 years,” said Dante.

Next there is screening to detect cancer early.
