JAKARTA, CEKLISSATU – The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reports additional cases of monkey pox or Mpox. As of Saturday, November 25, the total number of patients reached 59 people, close to 60 cases. There were two new cases identified in DKI Jakarta and Bogor Regency. Outside the province of DKI Jakarta, West Java recorded the highest number of Mpox cases.
Until now, there have been no reports of cases of severe symptoms that were fatal, except for one case that died on Thursday, November 23. The Director General of Disease Control and Prevention (P2P) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health stated that the majority of infected people experience mild or even no symptoms.
“33 people have reportedly recovered,” he stressed, Monday, November 27 2023.
However, people are advised to remain vigilant if they have a history of accompanying or comorbid diseases. One death case that occurred previously was known to have complications due to a history of severe comorbidities.
This was revealed in the chronology presented by an internal medicine specialist, Dr. Lie Khie Chen, SpPD-KPTI from RSCM. The mpox case died in stable condition before enough lesions worsened the condition.
“Due to other comorbidities, the patient’s condition, as well as the Mpox infection process, the lesions were quite numerous and severe. This resulted in a complicated condition, meaning that within two weeks of treatment, lung complications arose,” explained Dr. Kie Chen in a recent press conference.
“It’s very difficult, we have tried to overcome the patient’s condition which is very serious and cannot be helped, medical efforts have been carried out and maximized but there are many other comorbidities,” he continued.
