Indonesian men’s volleyball team lost dramatically to South Korea in the top 12 round of the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship at Ghadir Arena, Urmia, Iran Wednesday (23/8).
Indonesia and Korea took turns gaining points at the start of the first set, but then receiving Indonesia experienced problems so that the Ginseng Country team could stay away.
The distance of up to four points was created at 8-4, but Indonesia then tried to improve its performance and was able to close the distance to just two points. At 7-10, Doni Haryono suffered an injury after landing incorrectly after trying to block.
A distance of three to four points then separates Indonesia and Korea. Indonesia’s block and receive has not succeeded in suppressing attacks. On technical time out secondly, Indonesia was left behind 11-16.
Had won consecutive points so that the score was 14-16, but then Korean blocks blocked Farhan Halim and Agil Angga’s attack balls so that Indonesia was left behind 14-20. Indonesia’s performance did not improve at the end of the first set until they lost 16-25.

The match in the third set was again not easy for both teams. The score kept tight until 9-9. After that Indonesia was left behind by four points. The tireless enthusiasm of Muhammad Malizi and his friends brought the score back to a draw and Indonesia took the lead again.
Korea is trying hard to pursue Indonesia’s excellence. Korea had cut its four-point margin to three points on two occasions, but Indonesia was able to keep its distance again and then won 25-22.
Indonesia looked off guard at the start of the fourth set so they were left behind 1-5 so coach Jiang Jie had to do a time out. Indonesia’s efforts to rise had been seen, but the error that occurred hampered the Garuda team’s points.
Korea also did not waste the declining trend of the Indonesian National Team. The distance between the points can be seen, Indonesia has difficulty scoring and on the other hand Korea is keen to gain points. Indonesia lost 19-25 in the fourth set and made sure the match had to continue to the fifth set.
In the deciding set, Indonesia and Korea both tried to get hot right from the start. Both teams took turns gaining points so that the position continued to be a draw from 0-0 to 7-7.
Indonesia led 8-7 and the advantage increased after moving the field. The two-point distance was maintained until the score was 10-8. Angga’s inaccurate serve and spikes made the score 10-10. After that Korea turned to lead.
The Indonesian volleyball team was then able to score two points in a row and turned around winning 13-12. The score was 13-13 and it was deuce at 14-14.
Korea’s two consecutive points that occurred at the end of the match made Indonesia lose 14-16 and failed to move on to the quarter-finals. Nevertheless, Indonesia is still playing in the race for the 9-12 ranking.
