Indonesian Men’s and Women’s Team Wins First

KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian men’s and women’s badminton teams won the first match in the group phase 2022 Thomas and Uber Cup.

The Indonesian men’s and women’s teams both played the first match of the group stage today, Sunday (8/5/2022) at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand.

Srikandi Indonesia first competed against France. Strengthened by the back-up players, Indonesia managed to wipe out the match with a 5-0 victory.

Indonesia has indeed fielded young players in Indonesia Uber Cup 2022. Of the 12 players, only Nita Violina Marwah and Jesita Putri Miantoro have ever experienced the Uber Cup atmosphere.

Meanwhile, 10 other players are debutants in the most prestigious women’s team badminton tournament in the world.

As for the victory over France, Indonesia temporarily tops the 2022 Uber Cup Group A standings.

The success of the Uber Indonesia squad was also followed by the Red and White men’s team which won 4-1 over Singapore.

The only point lost from the pockets of Indonesia belonged to Loh Kean Yew who beat Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

Furthermore, Indonesia is scheduled to face Japan in the 2022 Uber Cup Group A continuation on Wednesday (11/5/2022) at 09.00 WIB.

The Thomas Indonesia team will compete against South Korea on the same day at 14.00 WIB.
