Indonesian Local Committee Reports High Ticket Sales for U17 World Cup 2023

KOMPAS.com – The local committee (LOC) expressed good news regarding the enthusiasm of the Indonesian people for the 2023 U17 World Cup. LOC reported that 514,000 tickets were sold at the four venues hosting the tournament up to the round of 16.

In other words, the stadium occupancy rate at four venues, namely Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Manahan Stadium, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium and Jakarta International Stadium is 11,681 people. This number exceeds FIFA’s target of 10,000 spectators per match.

“We are certainly grateful for the high interest of the U17 World Cup spectators who have exceeded the targets set by FIFA,” said PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir in an official press statement, Thursday (23/22/2023).

“This proves that the U-17 World Cup is an entertaining and interesting spectacle for the audience,” said the figure who is also the Chair of the U17 World Cup Committee.

This average number could still increase considering that the U17 World Cup will still feature eight more matches.

The eight teams that will compete in the last eight will receive tickets, including Spain, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, France, Uzbekistan, Mali and Morocco.

The competition for the semifinals will begin with the Spain vs Germany match at the Jakarta International Stadium, Friday (26/11/2023) at 15.30 WIB.

Then, the big match between the two Latin American rivals will follow with the Argentina vs Brazil duel at 19.00 WIB.

“The top 8 match will be an interesting spectacle, especially when there will be classic world matches at JIS between Brazil vs Argentina and Spain vs Germany. This is a match that would be a shame to miss,” said Erick.

Meanwhile, the other two quarter-finals are France vs Uzbekistan and Mali vs Morocco at Manahan Stadium, Surakarta.

After that, the last four matches of the U17 World Cup will be played in Surakarta, two semifinal matches, the match for third place, and the final final on Saturday (2/11/2023).
