The Indonesian hospital (RS) in Gaza was also the target of attacks Israel. A staff member of the humanitarian organization Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) was martyred as a result of the attack.
“One local MER-C staff member who was at the location, Abu Romzi, was martyred as a result of this attack,” said MER-C Indonesia’s statement via the Instagram account @mercindonesia, Saturday (7/1072023).
This attack was in response to the Hamas group launching thousands of rocket attacks on Israel. The latest news is that 40 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured after Hamas launched an attack on Israel.
After that, Israel retaliated by bombarding Gaza via air strikes. It was reported that the MER-C operational car was also hit by an Israeli attack.
“The attack also destroyed the MER-C operational car which was in front of Wisma Dr. Joserizal Jurnalis, where the volunteers lived, which was in the Indonesian Hospital complex,” said MER-C Indonesia.
MER-C also evacuated other volunteers to a safe place to prevent further casualties.
“Because the situation at the Indonesian Hospital is not conducive, for the time being the MER-C volunteers, currently numbering 3 people, have been evacuated to a safer location until the situation is under control,” he explained.
