Indonesian Government Reviewing Funds for Education Scholarship Institution LPDP

The role of the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) scholarship is very important for Indonesia’s young generation to receive education both at home and abroad. So far, large budgets have continued to be disbursed. However, recently, it was reported by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, that the government is currently reviewing stopping the flow of funds to LPDP, Beauties.

Collect DetikFinancehe stated (16/1), “We will review whether the LPDP should continue with an amount of almost IDR 140 trillion. So maybe we will stop first.”

It is known that the government’s budget for LPDP is IDR 20 trillion, which is 20% of the APBN for education. Even though the budget has been stopped, this does not mean that the LPDP is completely inoperative because the institution still has an endowment fund of IDR 136 trillion which is rotated and produces profits which will later be used to provide scholarships.

Allocation of Funds for Other Education Sectors

So, what is the use of the IDR 20 trillion if it is not used for LPDP? Regarding this, Muhadjir explained that other education sectors would accept it. “So the 20% education budget can be fully used to improve education, including research, and allocations for higher education development can be increased,” continued Muhadjir.
