San Diego –
Jeka Saragih became the first Indonesian fighter to appear on UFC. Hopefully there will be many Indonesian fighters who will follow him.
Jeka gets a contract to duel in UFC, a prestigious world-class MMA event. The fighter from Simalungun was the first from Indonesia to get this opportunity.
Jeka’s journey began last year, when he took part in the Road To UFC event. Even though he lost in the final, the 28 year old fighter was still given a UFC dueling contract because of his interesting dueling style.
Jeka himself received support from Mola, who facilitated all his training. From starting to train at the San Diego academy to being guided by experienced coaches.
Until finally, Jeka Saragih will make its debut in UFC next month. His opponent is Jesse Butler from the United States. The two of them will fight at UFC Apex, Las Vegas. Mola hopes that Jeka’s appearance at the UFC can encourage many Indonesian fighters to pursue similar dreams.
“We can only hope that Jeka’s presence at UFC can encourage many other fighters to be able or want to pursue higher careers on the international stage,” said Mirwan Suwarso from Mola.
“We now have an academy in San Diego. In the past we were entrusted to it, now we have our own academy. And Jeka is not alone, he is accompanied by five other Indonesian fighters. We are working with One Pride to bring him to the US. He is also accompanied by fighters from Italy, “France, the US, who all have the same goal, namely a career at the highest level of MMA, be it UFC, BFL, Bellator, or whatever, the important thing is that we pursue the highest level in the world,” he explained.
One way to make this happen is to collaborate with the UFC. Mola has broadcast rights until 2029, and next year will make a lot of efforts to increase public interest.
“Our discussions with the UFC, we just extended the contract until 2029, one of the promises from the UFC is that they will start bringing their academy to Indonesia too, maybe not permanently yet,” said Mirwan.
“We plan to collaborate with UFC to further bring UFC training programs to Indonesia. We are also trying to increase public interest by bringing their athletes to Indonesia. And that’s definitely encouraging Jeka Saragih his career is progressing. “Hopefully Jeka can prove it later,” said Mirwan.
Mola, which broadcasts UFC matches, will make the Jeka Saragih vs Jesse Butler duel free. Like the last Road To UFC, Indonesian people can watch Indonesian fighters duel in the UFC octagon directly on Mola TV.
