“Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Association Disputes Claims of Online Ojol Drivers Struggling with Subsidized Electric Motor Purchases”

Jakarta

Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli) open the voice about online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) who complained of difficulty buying subsidized electric motors. Aismoli, who has coordinated with the government, claims that this complaint is not true. Because, whoever the buyer is, as long as he meets the requirements, he can definitely make a transaction.

Previously, Coordinator of the Online Ojek Community for the Depok Region Muhammad Anwar Rizal complained about how difficult it was to buy subsidized electric motorbikes. In addition to the complicated process, there are additional costs that must be paid by his party.

“We below use motorized vehicles the most on a daily basis. Why aren’t we supported, instead we are burdened with things like this?” complained Anwar through his official statement, not long ago.

“So we are increasingly confused about switching to electric motorbikes but there are many Batman traps, we want to stick with conventional motorbikes, the competition is getting tougher,” he added.

Responding to the complaint, Aismoli spokesperson Peter Kho said the government had never intended to make it difficult to purchase subsidized electric motorbikes. According to him, the purchase verification process is rigorous and gradual, so it takes a long time.

Peter emphasized that the purpose of the multi-layered verification is to avoid rogue buyers. The government wants to ensure that those who buy subsidized electric motorbikes really have the right and have met the requirements.

“Complaints about being complicated is not true…. It’s not being complicated, but the verification is indeed long. In my opinion, it’s acceptablebecause the government really thinks about the lower class,” Peter Kho’s response when met by detikOto in Jakarta.

Furthermore, Peter admitted that he had held meetings with a number of ojol representatives from Grab and Gojek to encourage the purchase of subsidized electric motorbikes. So, if someone says it’s complicated, according to him it’s absolutely not true.

“Ojol, we already have encourage how come, we have invited all the ojol from Grab and Gojek we have invited a meeting to enjoy this policy. If they meet the requirements, go ahead,” he said.
