Indonesian men’s doubles Kevin Sanjaya/Marcus Gideon lost in the last 16 Malaysia Masters 2023 which took place at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Thursday (25/5).
Kevin/Marcus lost two straight games 15-21 and 17-21 to Japanese men’s doubles Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. Kevin/Marcus played less impressively in the first game and were always behind from Takuro/Yugo.
In the second game, the former world number one men’s doubles game was much better. Kevin/Marcus’ attack and defense were much more impressive and they were able to win 14-11 over Takuro/Yugo.
However, Kevin/Marcus failed to maintain the consistency of the game. After winning 17-15, Kevin/Marcus were unable to do much until Takuro/Yugo, who were the fourth seeds at the 2023 Malaysia Masters, managed to turn things around 21-17.
Jonathan Christie also lost. The third seeded men’s singles lost to Kenta Nishimoto 20-22, 11-21 in the last 16 of the Malaysia Masters 2023.
