The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the sad news regarding the departure of one of its top diplomats, Indonesian Ambassador for Ukraine, Ghafur Dharmaputra.
Spokesman for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Teuku Faizasyah, said that Ghafur passed away on Thursday (12/5) at 21.50 WIB.
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un, has passed away to Rahmatullah Mr. Ambassador Ghafur Akbar Dharmaputra on Thursday, May 12, at 21.50 in Jakarta. He died at Medistra Hospital,” said Faizasyah when confirmed by CNNIndonesia.com on Friday (13/5). ).
Faizasyah said that Ghafur died because of his illness. However, he did not explain in detail about Ghafur’s disease.
The sad news also came from a number of other Indonesian colleagues and diplomats, one of which was the Indonesian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Fadjroel Rachman.
Prior to serving as Ambassador, Ghafur was an Expert Staff for Sustainable Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko Ekonomi).
He also served as the Indonesian Consul General in New York, United States of America.
Ghafur was born on February 16, 1964 in Bandung. He was inaugurated as the Indonesian Ambassador by President Joko Widodo in November 2021.
