The Indonesian airline Batik Air is under investigation after two pilots allegedly fell asleep in the middle of a flight.
It reports BBC.
The Airbus A320 was on its way from Sulawesi to the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. Both the crew and the 153 passengers on board made it safely to the ground in the end.
Wanted to sleep – asked the mate to take control
According to an interim report from the Indonesian Ministry of Transport, the 32-year-old captain on board asked the mate to take control of the vessel because the former wanted to sleep.
After that, the coxswain should also have closed his eyes and fallen asleep.
Air traffic controllers in the Jakarta area were met with silence as they attempted to contact the Batik Air plane. After 28 minutes, they finally got an answer after the captain is said to have woken up.
At one point the passenger plane went off course.

– We will conduct investigations into night flights in Indonesia for Batik Air and other airlines, said the Indonesian aviation director Kristi Endah Murni at the weekend, according to Channel News Asia.
