“Meanwhile, areas on Earth that are below the penumbra will experience solar eclipse part,” said the Research Center for Space Research, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Johan Muhamad quoted the BRIN website, Wednesday (31/1/2023).
Indonesia has experienced solar eclipse several times, namely in 1983 there was a total solar eclipse, an annular solar eclipse in 2019, and a total solar eclipse in 2016.
April 20, 2023 is predicted to occur a hybrid solar eclipse.
Hybrid Solar Eclipse is a solar eclipse that is visible from some regions of the earth as a total solar eclipse, but in other areas it is visible as an annular solar eclipse.
Johan added, the solar eclipse that will occur on April 20 2023 in Indonesian territory is a very special eclipse, because it is a hybrid solar eclipse that rarely occurs.
In Indonesia, this solar eclipse will be observed as a total solar eclipse.
GMT will be observed especially in the eastern part of Indonesia, while in other areas of Indonesia it will be observed as a partial solar eclipse.
This solar eclipse will be observed as an annular solar eclipse in the southern Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean.
