Jakarta –
OnePlus had left the Indonesian market in 2016 ago. Seven years later, this cellphone vendor, who is still a relative of Oppo, returned to Indonesia.
Signs have been seen since Pete Lau’s arrival to Indonesia at the end of February. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of OnePlus who now also serves as Oppo’s Chief Product Officer.
Then surprisingly a social media account appeared that claimed to be officially owned by OnePlus Indonesia in mid-March. Followed by the presence of the WhatsApp Group community which is managed directly by OnePlus.
Now, when you access the official OnePlus website, you will immediately be directed to an Indonesian language page. Information about the progress, slogan, values and meaning of the OnePlus logo can be read in Indonesian.
There is no product information there, but you can join the OnePlus community. And speaking of community, OnePlus will be holding a Photowalk and Coffee Chat on April 6.
“It’s been a long time since we held any events in Indonesia. Since 2018 to be precise. Now, we are happy to invite people in or around Jakarta to join us for Chat Coffee on April 6,” wrote Daniel D, OnePlus Community Team.
“Having had several opportunities to bond with users around the world, I have to say this is a special opportunity for me – to host a Community event in my home country, Indonesia. We would love for you to join us for food and drink as we discuss technology awesome, OnePlus, and also gives you a first look at the upcoming OnePlus device.”

In addition, today the One Plus Indonesia Twitter account @OnePlus_ID posted a video greeting Indonesia. Many thought this post was an April Fool’s joke, but many also suspected One Plus Indonesia come back.
To ensure the return of OnePlus to Indonesia, detikINET tried to confirm with Oppo Indonesia.
“We don’t know for sure. We’re still waiting for voices from the Indonesian people,” said Patrick Oweb, CMO Oppo Indonesia.
A little flashback, OnePlus left Indonesia in 2016 because it could not comply with the Domestic Content Level (TKDN) regulations for 4G cellphones. This regulation makes it difficult for them to sell their products in Indonesia.
If OnePlus is really coming back, it’s definitely worth the wait. Because the device is quite interesting and will make the flagship and premium class cellphone market more lively.
