National football team Indonesia will entertain Brunei Darussalam in the first round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification at the Main Stadium Bung Karno’s surge (GBK), Central Jakarta, tonight. A total of 1,252 personnel were alerted.
“The total number of personnel involved was 1,252 personnel,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in a written statement to journalists, Thursday (12/10/2023).
Trunoyudo said the number of personnel was a combination of the TNI and Polri as well as elements from the regional government. Trunoyudo added that traffic engineering will be situational.
“Consisting of 953 Polda Metro Jaya personnel, 177 personnel from the Central Jakarta Metro Police, 30 TNI personnel and 77 personnel from the Regional Government,” he said.
The police also appealed to residents who wanted to watch the Indonesian national team match against Brunei to use public transportation.
“We urge spectators/supporters of the Indonesia vs Brunei Darussalam football match to use public transportation considering GBK’s parking capacity is very limited.
“We thank you for your attention and cooperation,” wrote the Traffic Management Center (TMC) Polda Metro Jaya on the Instagram account @tmcpoldametro.
President Jokowi will attend
The match was scheduled kick off at 19.00 WIB, Thursday (12/10). Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to watch the match live.
“Thank God, the President (Jokowi) has informed us (that he will) watch live. Because this football really seems like (the president’s) number one spectacle,” said PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir as reported by detikSport.
At SUGBK, Jokowi plans to sit in the East VIP stand. This place has been Jokowi’s choice in the last few matches of the Indonesian national team at SUGBK.
“Hopefully our team can play optimally,” said Erick Thohir regarding Jokowi’s presence.
