Jakarta –
Indonesia vs Australia back to play in 2022 Asian U-23 Cup Qualification. Garuda Muda will try to turn things around after losing 2-3 in the first meeting.
In the first meeting of Indonesia vs Australia at the Republican Central Stadium, Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Tuesday (26/10), the match was fierce. U-23 national team in the end narrowly lost 2-3.
In that match, five goals were born in the second half. Marc Tokich and Patrick Wood put Australia two goals ahead, before Witan Sulaeman narrowed the gap for Indonesia.
However, Australia then returned to winning two goals through the action of Jacob Italiano. Five minutes before dispersal, Taufik Hidayat minimized Indonesia’s defeat in the match.
Indonesia, of course, still has a chance despite losing in the first meeting. The match in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Friday (29/10) evening WIB will also be the deciding factor.
Indonesia and Australia had to face each other twice in the fight for tickets to qualify because the other two teams in this qualifying group, China and Brunei Darussalam, had already announced their withdrawal due to the COVID-19 situation.
The success of breaking into the Australian goal twice in the first meeting could be a valuable asset for the match later. What is certain is that Shin Tae-yong, the coach of the Indonesian national team, has warned his players not to be easily intimidated before fighting.
“Facing a team that is physically better and stronger, the players are afraid first. Even though the players already have good abilities, but because they are afraid before the match,” said Shin Tae-yong after the first leg match.
“So the players can’t show a good performance. For the next party, you have to be confident that the results will be better,” he added.
