Indonesia: streets of a village invaded by blood-red waters (video)

On February 6, 2021, the inhabitants of Beard, a village located in the center of the island of Java in Indonesia, were surprised to find that the waters had a blood red color after the severe weather that hit the region. Amazing photos and videos of this “tide rouge» were quickly disseminated on social networks.

According to the Indonesian authorities, this reddish color comes from the dyes of a textile factory in the city of Pekalongan. This factory, which brought together several workshops specializing in the dyeing of fabrics used in the manufacture of the famous batiks Javanese, found itself inundated and the waves washed away the dyes stored in the workshops.

To believe the head of the local disaster relief agency Dimas Arga Yudha to the AFP, these coloring agents are neither toxic nor dangerous. The flooded area was cleaned very quickly using water pumps.

That the rivers around Pekalongan take on unexpected colors, is not a rare occurrence. According to Cnews, during a flood last month, another village north of Pekalongan found itself invaded by brilliant green waters.
