Indonesia Stops, Japan Follows China to Semifinals

KOMPAS.comJapan drove to Uber Cup semifinals 2022 after crushing Taiwan. Meanwhile, the struggle of the Indonesian women’s team was stopped by the defending champion, China.

The two 2022 Uber Cup quarter-final matches were held in the morning session at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (12/9/2022).

In Field 1, China managed to beat the Indonesian women’s team with a score of 3-0 to secure a ticket to the semifinals.

Qualifying for the semifinals gives China a chance to defend the Uber Cup title.

In the last edition which was held in Aarhus, Denmark, last year, China emerged as the champion after winning 3-1 over Japan in the final match.

China’s move to the 2022 Uber Cup semifinals was followed by Japan.

The Sakura Country women’s team confirmed their move to the 2022 Uber Cup semifinals after a 3-0 win over Taiwan.

In the first match, Akane Yamaguchi who was defeated by Bilqis Prasista in the group phase this time successfully won over Tai Tzu Ying.

Akane had to fight until the third game to beat Tai Tzu Ying with a score of 21-10, 19-21, and 21-19.

Japan then doubled their lead over Taiwan to 2-0 when Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota’s women’s doubles won rubber game over Hsu Ya Ching/Lin Wan Ching, 19-21, 21-7, and 21-14.
