Indonesia Launches Polio Immunization Campaign in Response to Outbreak

Banyuwangi, VIVA Banyuwangi Indonesia experienced an Extraordinary Event (KLB) of polio cases after several cases emerged in several regions, including 3 cases in the Madura Islands, namely Sampang, Bangkalan and Pamekasan.

Apart from that, polio cases also appeared in Aceh and Klaten, so the Central Government then launched polio immunization, including in Banyuwangi, even though there were 0 cases.

As a follow-up, the Banyuwangi Health Service (Dinkes) will launch polio immunization which is the National Immunization Sub Pekanbaru.

Polio immunization will take place on January 15-20 2024, injected simultaneously in all health centers throughout Banyuwangi.

“All children aged 0-7 years are 174,237 targets,” said Plt. Head of the Banyuwangi Health Office, Amir Hidayat, to Banyuwangi.viva.co.id regarding immunization targets.

Apart from asking the public to attend the community health center, the Banyuwangi Health Office will also send officers to the field to pick up the ball on January 12-28 2024.

Then on 19-24 February 2024 is the second stage of polio immunization, and finally the Banyuwangi Health Office will carry out sweeping on 26-29 February 2024.
