Indonesia Strengthens Regional Tourism Ties at ASEAN Tourism Forum 2025
The Indonesian government has taken a proactive role in the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025, held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, from January 15 to 20, 2024.This participation underscores Indonesia’s commitment to fostering quality tourism and strengthening regional collaboration.
Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana emphasized the importance of Indonesia’s involvement in the forum, stating, “Indonesia’s involvement in ATF 2025 is an effort to enhance cooperation with ASEAN members and partner countries to promote high-quality tourism.” She highlighted that the ATF serves as a vital platform for ASEAN countries to collectively promote the region’s diverse tourism offerings.
This year’s forum, themed “Unity in Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow,” aligns with Indonesia’s strategic goals. “For Indonesia,this forum is a strategic opportunity to enhance our role in the global tourism arena,showcase our natural and cultural heritage,and foster beneficial regional cooperation,” Wardhana explained.
During the event, Minister Wardhana initiated her agenda by meeting with South Korea’s Minister of culture, Sports and Tourism, Yu In Chon.Their discussions centered on strengthening tourism collaboration under the ASEAN-ROK (Republic of Korea) Complete Strategic Partnership (CSP). Key initiatives included joint tourism promotion efforts aimed at boosting public interest in destinations across both countries.
The forum also provided a platform for Indonesia to engage with representatives from various nations. Over the second and third days, Minister Wardhana is scheduled to explore programs designed to advance the tourism and economic sectors in Indonesia and the broader Southeast Asian region.
