Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) admitted that he was ready to become the government’s opposition in the coming period if the president was elected in 2024 presidential election is an intolerant person.
This was conveyed by PSI General Chair Giring Ganesha in the peak event of PSI’s 7th Anniversary which was attended directly by President Joko Widodo and Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno.
“If a bad scenario happens in the future and a candidate with a track record of politicizing religion wins the presidential election, Mr. PSI is ready to become the opposition, as we have proven in Jakarta today,” said Giring in his virtual speech, Wednesday (12/22).
Giring assesses that the progress that has been achieved by President Jokowi during these two periods will be destroyed if his successor is someone who has a track record of using SARA sentiments to win the Pilkada process.
He even said that Indonesia would be bleak in the coming period if led by a liar.
However, Giring did not specifically mention who the figure in question was. He only said that this figure was someone who had been replaced in Jokowi’s government.
“Indonesia will be gloomy if the chosen one is a liar and has also been fired by Mr. Jokowi because he is incompetent to work,” he said.
He emphasized that if the scenario were true, PSI would not support the president. According to him, PSI will be firmly on the side of the opposition to fight the next government.
Giring also said that his party would work optimally to pass the parliamentary threshold in order to enter parliament in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
According to him, this step is needed to continue Jokowi’s programs, which he feels are already running well.
“PSI is ready to work hard to pass to parliament. PSI will multiply, we will send our best cadres to sit in the legislative and executive seats. I make sure PSI will continue to work for the people and continue what Pak Jokowi has built,” he concluded.
