jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The Ministry of Manpower invites ASEAN-OSNET to commit to implementing prevention and control programs HIV-AIDS at work, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“This disease prevention and control program in the workplace must be implemented properly to ensure the safety and health of our workers, as well as business growth,” said the Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah.

The Minister of Manpower Ida said this at the ASEAN Guidelines Development Workshop on HIV Counseling and Testing in the Workplace and the HIV-AIDS Prevention and Control Workshop in the Workplace During the Covid-19 Pandemic Period, Wednesday (9/6) in Jakarta.

The PKB politician reminded about the potential challenges of HIV-AIDS infection in the workplace. Because the number of cases of HIV-AIDS has increased significantly from time to time, and the data shows that most of the people infected are in their productive age.

According to him, these conditions make HIV-AIDS no longer only a health problem, but also poses a risk to socio-economic welfare, especially in the employment sector.

“We know that workers have a major role in driving the wheels of economic development by ensuring that production activities continue. However, workers are also a group in our society that is vulnerable to the transmission of Covid-19 and HIV-AIDS,” he said.

On that occasion, Ida expressed her appreciation to Laos as the current Chair of ASEAN-OSHNET for its success in coordinating ASEAN-OSHNET activities and programs.

As Chair of the ASEAN Labor Ministers Meeting, he also encouraged ASEAN-OSHNET to productively and actively support the development of the ASEAN labor sector with activities to achieve the goals of the ASEAN Manpower Ministers’ Work Programme.
