Indonesia has launched a private vaccination campaign

Vaccination will be paid for by companies employing the population to be vaccinated, including large production companies with a large number of employees and small and small businesses.

“I am delighted that the private vaccination campaign has begun. I hope everyone will be protected from Covid-19 and factories in these industrial and business areas will be able to be more productive,” President Jocco Vidodo said at the launch of the campaign at Unilever in Chikaran, West Java.

“This private vaccination campaign in Indonesia should speed up the vaccination program,” he added.

Companies from 18 other locations in the industrial areas of the capital’s Jakarta region also took part in the video-conferencing conference.

The private vaccination campaign will use vaccines from Chinese manufacturers Sinopharm and CanSino. The government is currently negotiating the purchase of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine for the program.

The vaccination campaign is coordinated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce.

The private vaccination campaign must use different brands of vaccines from the government campaign, the Ministry of Health has ruled.

Private organizations participating in the campaign must purchase the products from national vaccine importers and may not charge employees, thus fulfilling the government’s commitment that vaccination will be free for all citizens.

The price of one dose of Sinopharm vaccine is 500,000 rupees (29 euros), according to the Ministry of Health.
