President Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, attended a ceremony on the occasion of Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which was held at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Solo, Indonesia, in the presence of Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Tito Karnavian, Indonesian Minister of Interior, and Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Indonesia.
Joko Widodo emphasized that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, was a leader who gave his life to promote the values of solidarity, giving and humanity, and called for following his approach in the fields of charitable work and human solidarity.
In this regard, Al Mazrouei said that humanitarian work has become one of the established values in the UAE society, thanks to the principles and values that the founding father instilled in his people, and whose good impact extended to the whole world.
For his part, Al Dhaheri said that the celebration of Zayed Day for Humanitarian Work reflects the UAE’s keenness to commemorate the passing of the founder and builder of the UAE’s renaissance, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, by following his approach of giving, and continuing the good deeds he instilled. True to his biography and inspired by his wisdom.
He added, “The UAE has remained committed to the approach of Sheikh Zayed, to support people affected by crises and disasters without discrimination, and the country is still one of the largest donors of foreign aid in comparison to its national income.”
For his part, Dr. Sultan Faisal Al-Rumaithi, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque Center in Solo, said in his speech during the ceremony: “The humanitarian vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, stemmed from a deep belief that providing benefit to people is one of the most important actions.” And the noblest of them, and our founding father translated that intellectual vision into a practical reality through his adoption of many humanitarian initiatives and projects in the world.
Al Mazrouei was also briefed on the Ramadan programs organized by the Sheikh Zayed Mosque Center in Solo, where the number of visitors since its opening last March reached 371,400 visitors, and the total number of Iftar meals served during the holy month reached 134,000 meals.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Suhail Al Mazrouei and Tito Karnavian signed a memorandum of understanding to support and develop development projects in Solo.
