“Hopefully, all Indonesian people will fully support the success of this U-17 World Cup,” he said.

Andre also expressed his appreciation for the leadership of PSSI chairman Erick Thohir, who successfully lobbied for FIFA to appoint Indonesia as the host for the U-17 World Cup. He sees this as a solace for Indonesia, which previously failed to host the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

“This also shows PSSI’s achievements under the leadership of Mr. Erick Thohir. After the unfortunate failure of the U-20 World Cup bid, we can find solace in winning the Sea Games Gold Medal. Alhamdulillah, PSSI and the government have regained the trust to hold the U-17 World Cup. We need to be grateful for this,” he said.

Indonesia replaced Peru as the host for the 2023 U-17 World Cup. Peru’s host status was revoked due to its lack of readiness in terms of infrastructure.
