Indonesia AirAsia has announced the launch of direct flights from Jakarta to Phnom Penh and Perth in a bid to bolster the tourism industry and improve bilateral relations between the countries involved. The direct flights to the Cambodian capital commenced following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation at the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh, according to reports. The direct flights to Jakarta will operate as scheduled services four days per week, using the Airbus A320 narrowbody aircraft. The move is seen as a step forward in Indonesia’s effort to expand and diversify its tourism industry.
