Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
In an effort to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a key player in the global telecommunications industry, the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, is targeting to open a special booth for Indonesia at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025.
It is hoped that Indonesia’s presence at the exhibition, which is always attended by more than 2,400 participants and attended by 1,100 speakers from various countries, will become a stage to showcase digital innovation and the developing national telecommunications ecosystem.
“There have been discussions with several Director Generals. We hope that Indonesia can participate in the MWC event next year. We plan that next year there will be an Indonesian booth,” he said in a written statement, Monday (4/3).
During his visit to MWC 2024, which took place at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain, Budi Arie witnessed firsthand the dynamics of technological progress which has great potential for accelerating digital transformation in Indonesia.
Seeing this, he also hopes that the community and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia will be able to contribute actively. Technological progress must be interpreted as a means to increase society’s productivity and as a tool to transform technological progress into progress for Indonesia.
According to him, the technological sophistication on display at MWC 2024 shows promising digital infrastructure investments that have a great opportunity to be implemented in Indonesia.
“A lot booth attractive, including investment in digital infrastructure. “A vast country like Indonesia needs adequate digital infrastructure to support the digitalization process in Indonesia,” he explained after reviewing the Huawei and Ookla exhibition stands.
This plan was also welcomed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Spain, Muhammad Najib. According to him, this initiative was discussed but was stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Actually, we have been planning it for years. I think after Covid-19, especially with extraordinary support from the Minister, I am optimistic that next year we can participate,” he explained.
It states the opening showcase will enable business people from Indonesia to show off their domestic work to become better known on the international stage.
According to him, to realize this plan the role of Kominfo is very central, but it is also important to involve business people. This is because applications and production that have been developed in Indonesia need to be introduced more widely.
“This is a very valuable opportunity, we can get partners from abroad to accelerate our IT so that we can develop more quickly,” he concluded.
With plans to participate in MWC 2025, Indonesia not only has the ambition to introduce its technological advances but also to attract investment and international collaboration. This is a strategic step in supporting global telecommunications connectivity and accelerating the digitalization process in Indonesia.
