Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Secretary General of the Association of Indonesian Hospitals (Persi), dr. Lia Partakusuma said, the process of forming immunity after Covid-19 vaccination was not as fast as people thought.
“Immunity can only appear two or three weeks after the second dose of injection. For the Sinovac vaccine currently used by Indonesia also only has an efficacy of 65%, so it does not fully protect,” he explained in a virtual discussion entitled “Safe Covid-19 Vaccine, Healthy Society “on Friday (12/3/2021).
According to him, someone who receives the Covid-19 vaccine does not have an immediate impact. It is admitted that there are people who have not been able to form immunity in their bodies.
“Every person is different in their bodies. There are people who respond quickly until antibodies are formed quickly. But there are also those who are slow, even unable to form antibodies,” he said.
Therefore, it is hoped that the presence of the Covid-19 vaccine will not immediately make people completely free of Covid-19 until they finally ignore health protocols.
Lia believes that the presence of a vaccine can reduce worries from severe Covid-19 symptoms. Although he also appealed to the public to stick to strict health protocols.
“Of course we hope that the community will not be euphoric. Each of them will continue to carry out health protocols. Never get tired and keep the spirit of running the 5M program,” he concluded.
