Indignant police and rebels during his arrest in Montluçon (Allier): a 30-year-old convicted

The events took place on 12 August 2021, in the Fontbouillant district of Montluçon (Allier). That night, two police officers from the town’s crime brigade on the banks of the Cher are on patrol and spot a vehicle passing at their height.

On two occasions the driver, a 38-year-old man, did not turn on the turn signal. Officials stop at his level and tell him that these traffic violations will earn him two fines.

The situation is getting worse

Things escalate quickly. The police aroused indignation from the 1930s, which was immediately joined by a dozen family members and acquaintances.

Civil servants try to challenge him but the climate is still a little more tense. The accused rebels and in particular falls to the ground with one of the police officers, before taking refuge with a member of his family.

Being only two, the police have no choice and must leave the scene. But he will return less than an hour later, to finally proceed with the arrest. Interpellation during which they assure that the thirty-year-old would have rebelled again, which she denies.

A “relentlessness”?

“I regret everything that happened”, he assures the bar anyway, trying to explain his behavior: “I didn’t understand why it was always me. “His advice, Me Chautard adds:” This man acknowledges his fault. But there is a certain relentlessness on the part of the police. “

But for Me Sabatini, lawyer of the two policemen, as well as of the prosecutor, “the two officials were just doing their job.” Six months of suspension of imprisonment were therefore requested by the prosecutor, in addition to the obligation to carry out a citizenship course. Requisitions finally followed by the court.

The accused had directly summoned the two police officers, believing that he had been a victim of violence during the intervention. He also filed a complaint. But on the questions of the president (the accused not being able to give an example of violence in particular), the accused has finally withdrawn from his direct summons.
