India’s New COVID-19 Case Sets World Records, Translating 300,000 A Day

Second wave conditions COVID-19 in India getting worse. There were 314,835 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday (22/4/2021), the world’s highest daily increase in record.

Hospital conditions in the capital Delhi are said to be one-third full. The oxygen supply in various hospitals is also limited.

“His condition is really critical … The patient is having trouble getting a bed at the COVID-19 referral hospital. There is acute lack of oxygen,” commented the head of the Indian Medical Association, Dr Kirit Gadhvi, as quoted from Reuters.

The condition of the Indian epidemic also received attention from the authorities in Indonesia. Head of the Health Quarantine Sub-Directorate General of P2P Ministry of Health, Dr. Benget, said there was a movement of people who wanted to enter Indonesia from India.

“First, regarding the arrival of Indonesian citizens and foreigners, yesterday many Indians entered Indonesia, a lot,” said Bengat during a meeting with the Riau COVID-19 Task Force team some time ago.

In his notes, foreigners from India came to Indonesia by air. They landed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and were quarantined by the Ministry of Health.

“We have been closely monitoring today, because there is information on an exodus. So for Soekarno-Hatta, we have asked them to place a hotel so that it is easy to supervise,” said Bengat.
