Relations between India and Pakistan are now in the spotlight after the Indian Ministry of Defense admitted the incident occurred due to a technical malfunction during a routine maintenance period. This damage is what is called the accidental firing of the missile.

“In routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile,” the Indian Ministry of Defense said.

The incident was called very regrettable. He also added that “The matter is relieved because there were no fatalities as a result of the accident,”.

The statement came hours after Islamabad’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it called an “unprovoked violation of its airspace by a ‘supersonic flying object’ of Indian origin.”

Pakistan’s Response to India’s Recognition

Pakistani authorities said a missile from Indian territory fell near the town of Mian Channy, 500 kilometers from the capital Islamabad on Wednesday (9/3). The missile is said to be unarmed.

Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf said India was “grossly irresponsible” for not giving immediate information about the accidental missile launch.

“The actual circumstances surrounding this incident should also be investigated to ascertain whether this was an accidental launch or something more intentional,” Yusuf said on Twitter.

Pakistan’s foreign affairs office has summoned India’s diplomatic envoy in Islamabad to protest over what they say is an unwarranted airspace violation. The incident is said to have endangered the flight carrying passengers and the lives of civilians.
