Nothing stands in the way of the start of the season: The Hanover Indians, like local rivals Scorpions and all other top division clubs, have received approval to play from the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB). In the past two years the Indians had to tremble for their license. In 2019, missing documents had to be submitted. In the summer of 2020, those responsible for the horse tower even fought in front of the DEB court in Munich and had success against the previously denied license refusal.

Twelve teams are involved in the south group, the mosquitos Essen are back in the north group, which increases the strength of the season to 14 teams. So all the northern upper division can calculate with 26 home games in the regular season. The DEB has not yet published a game plan. One thing is certain, however: The Indians will play a game against the Crocodiles Hamburg on their own ice on September 24th – the official opening game that will be played for the first time.
