According to Variety.com, Ford it will pass along the red carpet with other actors who appear in the film, such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies or Mads Mikkelsen. The film will be released on May 18 outside the main competition. Ford, to whom the festival will pay tribute on this occasion, has already announced in advance that he will play the adventurous archaeologist in a hat and with a whip for the last time. He portrayed him for the first time in 1981 in the film Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The series about Indian Jones had until recently four parts, the last one with the subtitle Kingdom of the Crystal Skull also premiered in 2008 in France Cannes. According to earlier reports, the novel takes place for the most part in 1969. It revolves around former high-ranking Nazis who live in the USA and work on the Apollo program with the aim of putting a man on the moon. However, the film opens with a scene set in the 1940s, when Indiana Jones fights the Nazis in an adrenaline-pumping castle scene. Because of this, the creators digitally rejuvenated Ford. The soundtrack was again composed by ninety-one-year-old John Williams.

Indiana Jones and the Gun of Destiny is the first film in the series not directed by its author Steven Spielberg. This time he remained only in the role of executive producer, James Mangold took over the direction. “In 1995, it was an honor to come to Cannes with my first film The Fat Man. Twenty-eight years later, it’s an honor to return with a slightly bigger spectacle,” announces Mangold, who has since drawn attention to himself with the Hollywood films Walk the Line, Logan: Wolverine nebo Le Mans ’66.

This year’s edition of the festival in Cannes will last from May 16 to 27, the organizers have yet to present the complete program. The premiere of Martin Scorsese’s new film Killers of the Flower Moon, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, will also be premiered here. Viewers will see it on May 20, AFP adds.
