Indian Wrestling Federation President to Approach Court Against Union Sports Ministry’s Suspension of Elections

New Delhi: Expelled Indian Wrestling Federation President Sanjay Singh will approach the court against the action of the Union Sports Ministry which suspended the elections. He stated that the executive committee will meet on January 16 to decide the future and will not accept the ad hoc panel formed by the Indian Olympic Association.

The central government suspended the election of the new governing body on December 24 for violating the National Sports Act and the constitution of the wrestling federation. Sanjay Singh, who was elected as the president, is a supporter of former president and Lok Sabha member Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, who made serious sexual allegations against women wrestlers.

Brijbhushan’s supporters have won most of the federation elections. The central government suspended the election due to strong protests from the sportspersons.
