Hyderabad: Indian Test player Hanuma Vihari has resigned as the captain of the Andhra Pradesh cricket team. Vihari’s unexpected move comes hours before the Ranji Trophy cricket match against Mumbai starts today.
Senior batter Ricky Bhui is the captain instead. Andhra and Mumbai will face each other at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy ground. Ricky Bhui said that Hanuma Vihari resigned due to personal reasons.
Ricky Bhui also said that Vihari had said that the captaincy was preventing him from paying more attention to batting. The Andhra skipper said that they are facing Mumbai with confidence after beating Bengal in the first match. Hanuma Vihari, who decided to leave the team, was turned away by the Andhra Cricket Association after much discussion.
Kerala vs Assam
Ranji Trophy cricket group B match between Kerala and Assam will start today. Kerala drew with Uttar Pradesh in the first match at Alappuzha. Assam lost the first match against Mumbai. In other competitions, U.P. Bengal and Bihar will face Chandigarh.
