Indian Space Agency’s Lunar Probe Completes Mission at Moon’s South Pole

The Indian Space Agency announced that it has stopped its lunar probe, the first vehicle to reach the south pole of the moon, after completing its mission during which it conducted experiments over a period of two weeks.

And the Indian Space Research Organization said in a post on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter) yesterday: “The probe (Prajyan) of the spacecraft (Chandrayan-3) has been set to sleep, but its batteries are charged and its receiver is operational.” .

She added, “We hope to successfully wake him up to perform another set of tasks! Otherwise, he will remain there forever as India’s ambassador to the moon.

By landing its vehicle on the moon, India joined the successes of the United States, China and the former Soviet Union. But it preceded those countries in reaching the rugged Antarctic shortly after the crash of the Russian spacecraft “Luna-25” in a similar attempt.

Chandrayaan-3’s soft landing, after a failed attempt in 2019, sparked widespread jubilation in the world’s most populous country. The media hailed the landing as India’s greatest scientific achievement.

The Space Research Organization said: “The probe (Pragian) traveled more than 100 meters, and confirmed the presence of sulfur, iron, oxygen and other elements on the moon.”

India now hopes for the success of a probe it launched, the day before yesterday, to study the sun and monitor the solar wind, which can cause disturbances on Earth, usually appearing in the image of the aurora borealis.
