An Indian official had a reservoir partially pumped out last week because his phone had fallen into the water. In the end, two million liters of water were pumped out before the device was found. The phone did not survive the three days on the bottom.
The official, working as a food inspector, dropped his phone while taking a selfie at the Kherkatta Dam. The device ended up on the bottom of the adjacent reservoir, writes BBC.
The food inspector wanted his Samsung phone, worth about 1,100 euros, back immediately. It would contain sensitive government information.
When divers initially found nothing, a diesel pump was brought in. The food inspector had been given permission to pump out “some water”. In the end, two million liters of water were pumped out before the operation was shut down by another official.
And with result: the phone was found after three days of pumping. The drowned plane just didn’t work anymore.
The food inspector has since been suspended and an investigation is underway into wasting essential provisions.
