Muslim leaders as well as Islamic community organizations (ormas) in Indonesia India on Thursday (30/6), condemned the killer of a Hindu tailor in Udaipur.
The Minister of Unity for India’s Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, said the move was against Islam as well as humanity.
“The perpetrators are enemies of Islam. The brutality and ruthlessness of the killings that took place demonstrates the mindset of the Talbani duo. This kind of barbaric incident is unacceptable in any community, culture and country,” Naqvi said, as quoted by Reuters. Indian ExpressThursday (30/6).
“We must be wary of those who try to destroy the social fabric of the country,'” Naqvi continued.
Similar criticism also came from Islamic organizations in India. The All India Muslim Private Law Council (AIMPLB) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind stated that they condemned the Udaipur incident as ‘un-Islamic’.
“No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. Islamic Shari’a does not allow this. Therefore, the Indian government must not ignore the responsibility of the kind of division and hatred that exists in this country today, which the government is deliberately contributing to,” said the executive member. AIMPLB, SQR Ilyas.
Ilyas said that so far no legal action has been taken by the government over the case of harassment of the Prophet by Nupur Sharma.
According to him, if the government wants to control the heated situation and radicalization of society, the government needs to take firm legal steps against all perpetrators.
“We are not in a state to justify the incident, but such an atmosphere has itself been created,” said Ilyas.
Earlier, a Hindu tailor was killed after being beheaded by two men in Udaipur, India. The incident occurred allegedly because the tailor supported the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician who insulted the Prophet Muhammad.
The incident was also shared by the two perpetrators in a video recording on social media. After that, the video went viral so that the Udaipur government blocked the internet in the area. The government has also banned gathering activities to prevent further spread to further clashes.
Now the killers have been arrested. The police confirmed that they would give strict punishments to both of them.
