India progressed by defeating Singapore 3-0 in the quarter. But the women’s team lost to Japan in the quarter-finals (3–0). In the men’s quarter, veteran player Sarath Kamal, G. Sathyan and Harmeet Desai won the singles for the third seeded India. In 2020, the Indian men’s team won bronze in the championship held in Doha.
