The Indian lunar lander Pragyan transmitted the first data from the surface of the moon to Earth. He measured the surface temperature of the satellite. This was announced by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on the social network X.
“The apparatus measured the temperature of the upper layer of the lunar soil around the pole. This made it possible to understand the temperature regime on the surface of the moon, ”ISRO said in a statement.
Bi Darukesha, an employee of the Indian Space Research Organization, stressed that the data was a surprise for specialists. “We all thought that the surface temperature could be 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, but it is 70 degrees Celsius,” Darukesha said. He stressed that such data surprised Indian scientists.
Indian Space Agency landed a lander on the moon as part of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. India has become the first country to land a spacecraft near the south pole of the moon. Formerly Russian automatic station “Luna-25” collided with the lunar surface after the transition to off-design orbit. As a result of the collision, the apparatus ceased to exist.
