Indian laborer dies in Latina, family clash over money raised – Il Caffe

Amritpal Singh is in Italy, the brother of Satnam, the 38-year-old Indian laborer who tragically died last June 19 after being abandoned in agony by his employer following an accident that occurred on a farm in Latina.

The victim’s brother arrived to carry out all the INAIL procedures relating to compensation and heavily attacked Soni, his brother’s partner, who according to him is not entitled to the money because she and Satnam were not married.

There is a lot of money at stake, that collected from a subscription, around 630 thousand euros. Money that Amritpal believes should only go to his family.

Satnam’s partner was left alone

Soni actually does not claim, and has never claimed, anything pertaining to Satnam’s family “but acts exclusively to protect the rights recognized by the Italian legal system to the more uxorio cohabitant”, explains the lawyer Gianni Lauretti, who defends the woman .

«Soni and Satnam lived together for three years in Italy and shared every aspect of their emotional, family and working life – continues Lauretti -. They always sent aid to their families of origin and were building their future together. This tragic event suddenly shattered every expectation and dream and Soni suddenly found herself alone, in a foreign country without her only point of reference, without work and without knowing the Italian language.”

Help given directly to her

«Many people, from all over Italy, have understood her plight and have directly sent her material and economic aid which has nothing to do with what is due to Satnam’s heirs. Even the fundraisers of municipal administrations and union representatives saw direct donations received by Soni from those who wanted to help exclusively Satnam’s partner.”

The war is only just beginning. Furthermore, Amritpal is a guest of the Municipality of Cisterna in the guesthouse already prepared for Satnam’s family members, who were supposed to come to Italy for the funeral, only to then decide to repatriate the body.
