Indian girl beaten to death by relatives with stick for wearing jeans | Abroad

Her mother told the BBC that the girl, Neha Paswan, put on pants and a top in the evening. She was at home and wanted to perform her religious rituals. That turned out differently, however.

When her relatives saw the pants and the top, a heated discussion about her choice of clothing ensued, with a fatal outcome. The uncles and grandfather took a stick and beat it.

The relatives told the mother that her daughter was lying unconscious on the floor. They would take the girl to a hospital.

“I wasn’t allowed to come, so I asked other family members if they could go to the hospital,” says the mother. Once at the hospital, the girl was nowhere to be seen.

The next morning, her lifeless body, hanging from a bridge, was discovered.

Police officer

Four people – including the grandparents, an uncle and the car driver – have been arrested by the police and are being questioned. A total of 10 family members are involved in the murder. The suspects have yet to appear in court.

The girl wanted to become a police officer. “But that dream is no longer coming true,” said the mother.
